I apologize if this post is too off-topic, but I figure people who do a lot of programming and tinkering under the hood might know the answer.
A tech recently installed a new harddrive into my fiance's PC and when she got it back, we discovered that the computer could not play audio of any type, showing a "no audio device found" error. The tech then had her install "C Media Wave Device" software, and now we discover that the audio portion of movies at some websites don't play while the audio of movies at other sites do. It appears that the movies that can't play audio are Flash movies. For example, no sound for Youtube movies or movies at CNN.Com, but movies at Bloomberg.com do play audio. All QT movies do play audio.
I'm a Mac guy so this is beyond me, but I suspect there is some sort of conflict with C Media Wave and Flash, and perhaps a registry issue.
Anyone have a clue?
Pete
