Are you sure the other workstations are all updated with the latest Flash player? I've never heard of the JW player, but creating a simple FLV player is a very simple process.
Check your DW8 installation because it seems like something is missing, or perhaps your site is not configured correctly.
As far as SWFObject goes, you need a .swf that will play an FLV. Flash doesn't play FLV's directly, but requires a SWF to do so, which sort of brings us full circle. :)
