When opening Bridge CS3 from within DWCS3, I just experienced a dangerous situation. (all versions updated to last possible version, OSX 10.5.2).
I had a DWCS3 page open. I clicked the Browse in Bridge button in one of the tool bars. I navigated in Bridge to another directory and choose an image. I dragged the image from Bridge onto the DWCS3 page. From DW I choose to Optimize the image and change its dimensions. Fine. It did that. Problem was: IT DID IT ON THE ORIGINAL IMAGE and the original image was gone! Left in the folder in Bridge was the optimized and shrunk image and no trace of the original.
Is it supposed to do that? Why doesn't DW move the optimized image into the site folder and leave the original alone? That's what GoLive would have done... (have used GoLive since version 1). Ok, I can of course move a copy of the original into the sitefolder before doing anything, but then Bridge becomes useless in this context for browsing and selecting images to use. Why doesn't DW at least ask me, when optimizing the image if I would like to save it into the sitefolder?
This is a very good way of loosing your original images....
Fortunately I have a mirrored external HD with a backup of my entire harddisk so doing a search for the destroyed original image made it possible to move it back from backup to the browsed image folder Bridge was locking in, but that might not always be the case.
