I have a not for profit client who are staging a launch event for their web site launch. They want to have a few computers at the launch with the facility to chat online to a famous author, but this is only to be for those present at the launch, but they want to be able to save the conversation to put on the site later. My thoughts are that a forum might be better as regards using the text later? As it could merely be closed for further posting? But would be there for later use too? I've no idea yet of the bandwidth that might be available though I'm expecting a good connection at the event end, but have no idea what sort of line our author could be on, nor even who it might be yet. We're using Windows and ASP (nearly forgot to put that in). I need to get some ideas back to them asap of what we might do and its sometime since I looked at chat software. I'd thought about writing something myself if necessary in ASP or Flash, but depends on the timescales I have, they are also known to leave things till the last minute.
