RE: (OT)I can't help wishing I didn't have to read off-topic stuff
I've read this list for over a year and never posted. The knowledge I've gained here is priceless! The smiles these people have put on my face have eased the stresses that being a designer can cause. The people here are dedicated, helpful, they love what they do and they have a good time doing it. They inspire me everyday! I find learning is best in a friendly and fun atmosphere as you will find here, NOT in a Nazi styled or sterile camp. It seems to me you've wasted more time/space complaining about OT and posting OT than there has been OT here in a week. So I leave you with a few quotes to ponder.
"I have learnt silence from the talkative, toleration from the intolerant, and kindness from the unkind; yet strange, I am ungrateful to these teachers." -Kahlil Gibran
"Nobody really cares if you're miserable, so you might as well be happy." -Cynthia Nelms
"You have not converted a man because you have silenced him." -John Morley
"The most wasted day of all is that during which we have not laughed." -Sebastian R. N. Chamfort

Hear, hear. I find Dreamweaver-Talk more like Just-Talk at times. Have left the list many times only to return for the gems of info. I have setup about 6 filters for the off topic posts but they still get through!
I have also complained to the management. I complained continuously to the Photoshop Discussion List and they eventually listened and now the list very rarely gets off topic posts let alone chit-chat.
I notice people don't trim their quotes either but seem to just hit the reply button without any consideration for others - I would hate to read the list in digest form or to pay the bill for archiving. I doubt if all that unnecessary quoting helps the search engines too.
Here's the guidelines, which I doubt few members have read! http:////www.blueworld.com/blueworld/lists/dreamweaver.html
List Topic While we encourage occassional discussion on matters peripheral but still related to the topic, we must remind folks that this discussion forum is exclusively about the topic. If you're not sure your post relates to the topic, inquire with the list monitor (dreamweaver-admin@blueworld.com) prior to posting.
Hmmmm......
