Thank you for responding but I seem to have fixed my own problem, (images, styles were not available),
It seems that I had set permissions in Contribute for the users but not for the administrator, me!
Thanks for your help anyway.

Try attaching your local stylesheet via the pullout menu on the CSS
styles panel.

Why not? One of DWMX 2004's features is the ability to edit 'siteless'
pages.

In case no one has pointed this out: DW won't see your styles using
this type of addressing. Any reason you are using absolute addressing?

There should be no problem using a relative link in DW. Are you sure
you used relative and not site root relative?

I did not know this. I am completely new to DW and only tried it as my
trial version of HomeSite is about to run out and thought I might use DW

Now that it is a relative address, it works fine.
Thanks.
(I am now hunting around for a good DW book so I can actually learn the
program. The Help menus are ok but do not substitute by far for a good book.)

Glad it works. I would suggest a little more practice in the HTML area
itself (in particular with respect to site addressing). This will go a
long way as far as DW goes. What you encountered here won't really be
found in any DW book.

One of the problems is that someone else designed the site and I adapted
one of the pages for the newsletter a while ago. At the time I never
thought to question someone else's coding. Combine that with the fact I
haven't been doing this myself all that long, at least on a regular basis,
that is.

I just bought a good HTML/XHTML ref book as I am finding that editors pick
up things I didn't even know about. e.g. today it picked up that I had h2
tags around <a></a> tags. I didn't know it mattered as the text I wanted
to display in h2 was within those a tags. These are things the books don't
tell you. I just hope the book I just bought does!

Hi Folks,
So here is my problem situation, perhaps you would help me through this. My
one, DW web site and files, are on the my old 98 SE, desktop. Well, I now
have my new notebook PC. I am asking if any of you have moved from one OS
to another? Are there any pitfalls that I need to be aware in order to move
DW and the site from the 98 SE desktop over on to the XP OS on the note
book? Would you offer some encouragement, please. Frankly, I am worried that
this move will end in a bottomless pit of URL address paths.
BTW, In case you don't recognize my address it is another mask I wear. You
see my old ISP address at TimeWarner and Blueworld have irreconcilable
differences, so this new address is via my site server host. No fatal bounce
over here as yet. thank goodness.
Cheers,
Tony

Tina,
First let me say I sympathize with you as I sometimes have similar feelings
about Flash.
However, the more I work with Flash, the more I realize I have to work with
that particular program like IT wants to work. I can't simply force MY
attitudes on it and say "I want to do this and if it can't do that then it's
a piece of junk" (although I have said things far worse then that before
with some of the animations I have worked on with Flash. :-)
This is the same here.
Dreamweaver is great and you should heed Suz's advice. She won't steer you
wrong. I promise.
BUT... You have to work within the parameters of the program. And the first
parameter is that Dreamweaver expects your to define a site within its Site
Map function first. It's kind of like driving a car - you absolutely need to
sit inside of it before turning the ignition key. Sure, you could crawl
through the window and start the car up that way, but in the long wrong,
you'll probably wreck trying to drive that way. :-)
The Site Map will help you do all sorts of wonderful, time saving things -
whether you're working on a one page site (like a Blog for instance) or a
HFWB (huge friggin' web site).
:-)

I think I see what he's talking about. Click on the Nelson logo. When

Plus my script blocker did conflict with how you want the page to work.
