Please forgive my usual lack of knowledge----
Not sure what you mean by the Dreamweaver Technote search engine...
Unless you mean the files online at Macromedia for each product, questions and troubleshooting?
If so----no, I haven't been able to access anything at MM for quite some time now (ironically, since the time I downloaded the test apps..)...I can input search terms----but am once again told that I need updated Flash.
HA!!! MY poor nice new (not, 8 months old, but feels new to me still---I am in love!) G4 has more copies of Flash than any machine in the world should be stuck with---all in attempts to work out the glitch with online work within MM...I've tried every browser (9 AND X) I can find to get the site to work.
As I said---I'm not thrilled by any means, and have wasted approximately 36 hours in various endeavors, including an hour and a half trying to BUY the download with MONEY online. Not counting the 40 minutes on the phone call STILL trying to buy...My own fault; I hate to give up and I work my ass off to make things work out.
But---the product is good, and I'm not a cut-my-nose-off to spite my face kinda person until I get really mad.
I want the product. So maybe it'll be better by the time my 2nd month is over, and maybe I won't be too pissed to buy it, or maybe I will. (they reinstated trial, since I couldn't BUY it)
To be quite frank, I think they should just send me Studio disks... they'll be updating it soon, requiring yet more money, as has happened each time I upgrade DW...sometimes within a couple WEEKS of my purchase! Yeah, they'd lose some on immediate profit, but they'd establish a real respect for the customer and consequently for themselves. FAITHFUL customer. What, I've been on this list for 3-4 years? With a continually updated DW program.
I think their lack of concern over these issues sucks. (hope I don't get banned from DW@BW. You're my favorite people. My best watercooler gang.
Truthfully---I think they should write off any profit from me just this once and send me Studio for Mac X now. I've wasted and tried and spent far too much time at the expense of real work that earns my $$ paycheck...and I've always promoted the programs to others, most of whom buy---and are MUCH better at it and far more advanced than I am. I've lost a lot of income. My income depends totally on the time I spend on customers.
This sounds like I'm doing some terrible martyr thing, but I really am not...I'm just TIRED & irritated and think they rushed the "site change"---if they're that willing to disable existing customers, then what's their point with this new cutting edge site technology whose only problem is that it DOESN'T work..?...they should have left the old one up while they beta'ed the new one.
Of course, I'm used to the kind of special treatment I have always gotten from Apple, so I'm probably spoiled...if their product caused or had inherent problems, they sent me replacements or a repairman. Fast. Often before I knew I had a problem. They continue to do so.
They even contacted ME to tell me there was a problem with the monitors of the current species I had a few years back, and when would be a perfect time for me to have a repairman call? And THEY contacted me to tell me my 190 laptop had an internal problem -- and they sent packaging one day, I sent it the next, and it was returned the next day. THAT's Class.
Apple sees to it that I remain content.
Then again, I've spent many thousands at Apple, because I've used it since I started computers in 1994. Ooops, forgot the IIc(e?) a few years earlier than that.
Yeah, I'm resentful about time and money lost on trying out this updated MM product--but I really liked it and wanted it...didn't know it would blow out all my work. But-- maybe I'll get over it. Maybe not. My worst loss would be this great list.
I give up. I'm way tired of it. Actually, I think I'm way beyond tired of it. Actually----I think I just figured out how I feel by writing this letter--writing is funny that way. It clarifies things. Catharsis?
Love the list, zero thrilled with the company right now,
Paula http://www.crazedcowboys.com <---no new DW/FW work going on here, just wasting a lot of time online NOT accomplishing work! I'm not gonna hold my breath...actually, I'm very pissed off, although I know that it's not personal. I'm the one that made the error by continuing to try to get through online with forms, then emails, then phone, then beg to get customer service, and to experiment searching for remedies. Bed is made, now I gotta lie in it...
Bad way to lose a bunch of great folks...hope I don't get kicked off...if I do, please drop me a note with your email----I love you guys!
