Tina, you'd do yourself a world of good if you'd stop finding excuses not to use Dreamweaver!!! You'll find it incredibly easy once you get the hang of it but the only way to do that is to use it long enough to get past the beginner stumbling blocks. Once you begin creating your pages from scratch in Dreamweaver, these problems will go away.
Definiing a site is also very easy.
--You don't have to have the site online before doing so.
--You can define one page as a site. The site can simply be the directory on your computer in which the files live.
To define a site:
Sites > Edit Sites> New> Next you'll see a window giving you the option of Basic or Advance Mode (by clicking an icon at the top). I prefer advanced mode over the basic wizard
In advanced mode:
1)In the Category Pane, select Local info
2) name the site, then browse to and choose the folder where your page will be.
3) You can leave Default Image folder blank.
4) Make sure Refresh File List and Enable Cache are checked.
There are more steps you can take (by clicking other Categories) but for now that's all you need.
