It's a fine line for me whether .htaccess is on, or off topic. I do know I have learned a ton around the discussion. However, let us not let the argument of whether this technical requirement and tool of the web designer is a valid part of our list have us making statements like the following:

I use DW to put text and images together for the web and, although I am not a monkey, I still recognise its value as a design tool just as I recognise my worth as a designer.
