No worries, no harm done, nobody's upset at you.

You didn't "call it news", but posting a link to rumor sort of makes it
news, at least for this list... spreading a rumor gives the rumor life.



When I said "puppet", I wasn't talking about this specific case, but rather
the general case of people taking things on the net at face value:

Thanks for the heads-up that Fawcette's email newsletter was responsible
for the rebirth of this rumor across various lists yesterday. It seems like
that's a done deal, but at least I know what vector the story followed on
this go-round... that helps, thanks.
