| |You can buy paper that's coated both sides for inkjets and it |works |well--both gloss and matte.
This is exactly the plan..Epson makes a nice one that I am testing now.
Personally, I would think mixing the two--lasers |and |inkjets--wouldn't look too great.
I hear ya...and you are probably right. We need to test this out to be sure.
|The other option is having them color copied. It's cheap |compared to |printing, and given the price of inkjet cartridges, would |probably turn out |cheaper. No bleeds tho but that doesn't sound like an issue.
We have a contact on this, and you are correct about it being a decent price. This may be the way we go.
| There are many |printers who |will give discounts for good causes. |
:-) You read our minds...we plan on waving the 'this is a not for profit organization' flag a whole lot! Hopefully an acknowledgment/mention will be incentive for places to give us a decent discount.
| | |If they want "Frosted Flakes" on a "Cornflake" budget, they |could at least |throw in a bag of milk. :) | |Seriously, that is really low for what it sounds like you are |planning. How |many copies was that?
Ahh...that would be 150-200 :-o I know...I know...I see you all shaking your heads ...this place is one of those magical experiences that gets under your skin, tugs on your heart-strings, and makes you commit to things that would otherwise have you running in the opposite direction.
This project is being staffed by moms who are currently taking sabbaticals from their outside jobs....the accountant, the landscape designer, the interior architect, the corporate events planner, and the human resources manager...oh yeah and me! Nobody is getting 'paid' for this...in fact we will probably have substantial out of pocket expenses....but so what...that is just what we do.
---funny story--- twice a year the school has 'workbees' where the children and parents come on a Saturday and do odd jobs...painting fences, cleaning up gardens, moving furniture...whatever. One year we needed to take down the decrepit playground equipment, then re-grade the area in preparation for the new equipment to be installed. About 10 adults show up with shovels and rakes in hand, knowing full well that there is no way on earth that this will get done....but we are there anyways. We hear an odd noise...turn around...and down the driveway comes one of the parents (who owned a construction company) with one of his employees driving a combination back-hoe earth mover :-)
I can't explain what drives us...it just does.
So...I have downloaded a trial copy of InDesign, which I have taken a look at and 'think' I can wing my way through... I am plugging away at tweaking/optimizing the photos... Today we head to the oriental paper place and may find we need to take a giant reality pill... And finally...I really really appreciate all the wonderful advice you have all shared, and hope I won't be too much of a bother in the coming weeks completing this thing!
Thanks Kim
