Panther is a great improvement over Jaguar and I recommend you upgrade if you haven't yet. Some of these features were not in Jaguar but I cannot remember now which ones. I do remember the finder being more intuitive once I loaded Panther.
Some favourite Panther (OSX.3.3) features: When in column view, at the bottoms of the dividing bars between the columns, you can adjust the width of each column individually.
press F11 - select a folder that had been covered up
press shift F11 - slo mo!
press F10 - tiles all open applications - select the one you want
F9 tiles all open windows
one of my faves is dragging a "hot" folder onto the top bar of a folder's window for quick 'n easy access. It will turn up in all future windows.
