UPDATE:

Today I called, and the cheery though mumbling Macromedia Man
confidently talked me through the online purchase, and the result,
shockingly, in a flash of brilliance, appeared:

YOU MUST HAVE AN UPDATED VERSION OF FLASH!

So as I began to lean to the rantish side of my personality---he
extended my trials of DWMX and Fireworks...for another month.

If in a month they still don't want me---I think I don't want THEM!

Frustrated but temporarily restored to sanity...
