Thanks all. Well, I spent about an hour yesterday checking each extension I had on against its compatibility listing on MM [looking up each file one at a time was a real pain :-) If it didn't say 2004, I turned it off. Then I checked all my PVII extensions against their current versions on the downloads page, and found several x.1 updates and reinstalled all those newer versions.
What the culprit was, I do not know, but all I can say now is that DW just blisters with speed at startup. It was instantaneous.
I suspect that some extensions would work just fine in 2004 that I turned off, but not knowing for sure, I just played it safe. My biggest loss was for some PHP related extensions and references. Just to note on MM, the older PVII extensions current versions do not say 2004 ready even though on the PVII site they do say they are okay.
One small question for Al, It seems that some extensions are duplicates, especially the N4 false fix and Return False fix, and it is hard to tell which one is more universal or more current... Don't they both do the same thing? The Return false fix has a different version number than the other, e.g. And you have both Fix null links and Nowhere Links, which sound like they do the same thing.
