Lots of good advice on this topic has been posted.
I also occasionally do ecommerce portions of sites for clients using custom made shopping carts (PHP & mySQL for backend and html and/or Flash for client side) and real time credit card processing services (like linkpoint & skipjack).
I know it always depends on exactly what is required., but how many hours does it usually take you to add an ecommerce solution to a site?
Are you using a canned solution? Which one? How customizable is it?
I've never added one where it didn't take me *at least* about 40 hours. My typical time is more like about 70-100 hours and sometimes even longer. And, I've never done a site with more than just a few hundred items. Of course, I always think I can do it quicker than I can. Am I just slow? Or, does it just take that long. I'm slow as molasses in winter, right?
Please lets only talk about HOURS - not invoiced figures.
